Dear Prospective Dodgeball Official,

First of all, thanks for taking the time to visit this site. It's my hope that you have precisely what I need in a referee so I can take this page down immediately and put you to work in the fast paced and rewarding position I have available.

You should have arrived here because you saw my employment ad that reads like this:

Dodgeball Referee Needed
Part Time,Sunday nights, 5-9 pm, starting in September.

Must have a quick eye, be assertive and loud.
Must be able to co-ordinate calls with other Officials.
previous refereeing experience an asset but not required.
Officiate at sporting events or athletic competitions to maintain standards of play.
Ensure that the game rules are observed, compile scores and other athletic records.
Rate of pay is $14.00 per hour.

So let me tell you about me, Dodgeballsport and the job.

My name is Mike Worden and I run DodgeballSport in London Ontario.


DodgeballSport has been catering to sports enthusiasts since 2005.
DodgeballSport offers Leagues and Tournaments in a an adult coed environment, looking to eventually expand into youth also.
Each league season runs for 9 weeks and caters to approximately 400-600 players.


If you are hired for this Dodgeball Official position, you'll be operating out of Saunders Secondary School in the southwest end of the city.

Tasks I Need You To Perform

Preparing equipment and prepping the court: You'll need to gather the timers and clipboards, tape down lines and place pylons.  Bleachers will need to be pulled out and schedules posted.  Place the balls in their necessary position.
Organize the teams:  You will need to call up the teams and diret them to their necessary positions.  You will need to be loud.
Making calls and directing the game: Dodgeball is based on the honors system.  Your job is to make the necessary calls that players do not necessarily catch or choose to disregard.  This will require to follow a fast paced game, be assertive and also maintain your own composure.
Following the Rules:  The rules are posted online with additional video instruction.  You are required to review the current rules and implement new rules as they are developed. 
Timing and Score Keeping:  One Official on the court will be responsible for starting and stopping the matches.  The other Official will be required to monitor and record the score.
